Preparing for 36 New Missionaries

That is a net gain of 28 missionaries in one transfer taking our total to 215 missionaries.

Thanks to some diligent effort from Penninsula Zone we now have 30 mattresses, 15 dressers, 15 bookcases, and 15 tables ready to go to new apartments.

Zone Conference February 2013

Sister Mayorga started us off by helping missionaries with some tips for better running.  She said our sports injuries are way down since we have started this program.  Elder Kelley also stated that our car accidents are also down, but he needs missionaries to fill out their reports faster and more accurately.  President Baker introdueed our subject for the conference by talking about “Faith to Find.”

Sister Baker talked about patience and encouraged missionaries to be patient with members as they help them to be more active missionaries.  Our Zone Leaders taught some new finding techniques:  Finding using media, Finding using family history, and Finding using the Book of Mormon.  After a delicious lunch provided by local Relief Societies, we gave out Birthday Cupcakes and almost every companionship won Snickers bars for getting a 10 on their car inspections.

In the afternoon, President Baker called several missionaries from the audience to share their best Finding stories.  The Assistants taught missionaries how to encourage baptismal candidates to invite all their friends and family to their baptism.  President Baker finished the day by encouraging missionaries to live the spirit of the law and not just the letter of the law.

Mission Leadership Training 2013

We are working on Fundamentals this month so we will be having two Mission Leadership Training Meetings instead of our usual Zone Leader Council.  President and Sister Baker and the Assistants are training our leadership and they will in turn train all of the missionaries during some special meetings during January.
